Real Madrid striker Mariano is reportedly eager to depart in order to return to Lyon.
The 27-year-old left the Spanish capital in 2017 for the Ligue 1 side but lasted just one season as his impressive performances convinced Los Blancos to buy him back.
However, he has found opportunities increasingly scarce since his move back to the Santiago Bernabéu, with Zinedine Zidane making it clear he is very much second or third choice.
Futbol Frances now report that Mariano has informed his agent to find him an exit route in the winter transfer window.
His preferred choice is Lyon, which is understandable given his 21-goal campaign there.
In addition, the story states that they would welcome him back to the club if Memphis departs for Barcelona in January, as is expected.
Real Madrid are also happy to facilitate his exit, given he is a reasonably high earner and contributing little in terms of playing time.
