The number seven shirt has been synonymous with many Madrid greats – most recently Cristiano Ronaldo – but the striker insists it’s an “honour” to wear it and not a burden.

“Does it put pressure on me? Yes, it weighs a lot,” he told Partidazo Cope. “I had just signed, it’s a number I like and it’s a personal challenge.

“I am happy to be able to wear a number used by Amancio, Juanito, Butragueño, Raúl and Cristiano Ronaldo, of course.

“Many told me I should not choose it, but I’m not thinking about it. I want to work hard to enjoy my minutes and do my best for this team.”
