Italian coach Enzo Maresca has been named as the Premier League manager of the month for September after picking up three wins and a draw across the Blues’ four top flight fixtures in that timespan.
Maresca earned the accolade after a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, a 1-0 win away over Bournemouth, a 3-0 away at West Ham and a 4-2 win at home to Brighton.
The West Londoners currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League standings with an encouraging average of two points per game, specifically 14 from seven.
They currently sit four points behind the league leaders, Liverpool, and three points off Arsenal and Manchester City in second and third.
Outside of the Premier League, Maresca also guided his side to a 5-0 win over Barrow in the EFL Cup and a 4-2 win over Gent in the Europa Conference League. Chelsea have not lost in the Premier League since the 2-0 defeat by reigning champions Manchester City on the opening day of the season.
Maresca and Chelsea Women’s coach Sonia Bompastor were both awarded the Premier League manager of the month award for September. Chelsea and England star Cole Palmer was also awarded the Premier League player of the month.
