It’s been a season to forget for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford who has struggled for form throughout the campaign.

Rashford has failed to replicate anything like the level of performance he produced last time out which saw him slam home 30 goals across all competitions.

However, there have been flickers of his quality, including a blistering strike that gave United the lead in the Manchester Derby.

In fact, the 25-yard thunderbolt has been awarded the Premier League’s Goal of the Month for March.

It’s the first time Rashford has won the award despite some extremely noteworthy strikes throughout his career and is now the eighth United player to have been given the honour.

Furthermore, the goal has made yet more history for the club as United are now the only side to have four players win the award in the same Premier League season.

Unfortunately for United, the early strike on the day was followed by three City goals as Erik ten Hag’s men crumbled in the second half, eventually succumbing to a 3-1 defeat.

However, Rashford’s screamer will go down as one of all-time great Derby goals.

Andre Onana’s long punt upfield allowed Bruno Fernandes to get in behind City’s back four with the game approaching the ten-minute mark.

The United captain held the ball and waited for his teammates to join him in the City half.

Enter Rashford who ran onto Bruno’s layoff and lashed home an unstoppable effort that crashed in off the underside of Ederson’s crossbar.

Despite his underwhelming campaign, the strike did boost Rashford’s goal tally in the Derby which stands at an impressive six, just five behind Wayne Rooney who leads the way in the fixture.

Rashford will now be hoping to end the season strong as he, and United, attempt to salvage something from a difficult campaign.

The 26-year-old has the chance to fire United to silverware with the team still in the FA Cup and facing Championship side Coventry City in the semi-final on 21 April.
