Following months of transfer speculation, it now seems that Marcus Rashford’s future has been decided.
Soon after arriving at Old Trafford, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim seemed to take immediate issue with Rashford, shipping him out to Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.
Having suffered a shocking campaign up until this move, Rashford reignited his form at Villa Park, attracting several interested parties as a result.
Transfer rumours erupt
It didn’t take long for the media to become ablaze with transfer rumours, linking the winger to a multitude of high-profile clubs.
Villa themselves were heavily linked with Rashford given his fine form; however, the club ultimately decided against making his move permanent.
Then there was PSG, with the UEFA Champions League title holders reportedly renewing talks with Rashford after previously appearing interested in the United academy graduate back in 2022.
Despite such interest, it appears as if Rashford has just one destination on his mind – FC Barcelona.
Longing for Barcelona
Soon after the summer transfer window got underway, Rashford’s desire to join the Catalan giants appeared to have intensified.
Last month, The Peoples Person relayed that Rashford was pushing for a move to Barcelona, even willing to make certain sacrifices to get the deal over the line.
In fact, it was even reported that the winger rejected offers from Chelsea, Newcastle, and even Aston Villa in favour of a move to Barcelona.
With the player fully committed to the move, all that was left was for the club to make its move.
Getting the green light
Although Jose Mourinho has allegedly decided to try to convince Rashford to join him at Fenerbahce, it seems that Barcelona are not willing to give up on the player without a fight.
“As revealed on 6 July, the priority for FC Barcelona is Marcus #Rashford. Barca want to try again for Rashford and are prepared to go all-in,” Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany posted on X.
“A few weeks ago, Luis Díaz was priority number one, as reported, but Liverpool rejected the approach. Rashford is now the clear number one target. Talks are ongoing. Green light from Hansi Flick was already given days ago.”
“The 27-year-old winger is set to leave Manchester United,” Plettenberg concluded, suggesting that it’s a question of when, not if, Rashford will join Barcelona.
This is welcome news for Amorim, who will surely be hoping to get a enjoy a massive pay day when offloading Rashford.
Given the recent signing of Matheus Cunha and the likes of Bryan Mbeumo still being heavily targeted, United will surely be looking to replenish their financial reserves as they look to reshape their squad this summer.
