Marcus Rashford may have reportedly played his last game for Manchester United, with the forward not expected to line up for the club ever again.
On Sunday evening, United officially confirmed Rashford had completed his loan move to Aston Villa until the end of the season.
It’s understood that the loan agreement contains an option to make the transfer permanent at £40m. Villa will also cover around 75% of Rashfords hefty wages.
Rashford fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim and did not feature for the Red Devils since mid-December.
A January transfer seemed inevitable, with the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona all mentioned to be an interest in him.
However, it was Unai Emery’s side who won the race for Rashford’s signature. It’s understood that Emery personally requested Villa chiefs to get a deal over the line.
Emery is a fan of Rashford and believes he can help the 27-year-old get back to his sensational best.
Over the weekend, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Rashford and Amorim clashed just days into the Portuguese’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.
It was stated that Amorim accused Rashford of going on a night out – a claim Rashford denied, to the point of asking his manager to provide proof.
Now, The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson reveals that even if Amorim were to leave United, it’s unlikely Rashford will return to Old Trafford, as his relationship with the club is also almost completely broken.
Jackson wrote for the newspaper, “Marcus Rashford is extremely unlikely to play competitively for Manchester United again even if Ruben Amorim is no longer the head coach, with the relationship between the forward and his boyhood club near irreparable.”
“It is understood, too, that there is no call-back clause in the forward’s loan terms with Aston Villa should he start to score prolifically.”
Rashford may make his Villa debut on Sunday, when the club comes up against Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
