Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has revealed the only regret he’s had in his career so far after receiving an award for all of his hard work this year.

The young Englishman first burst onto the scene during Louis van Gaal‘s reign and it’s safe to say he hasn’t looked back since.

Rashford was at the time called up to the first team to take the place of Anthony Martial who pulled up with an injury in the pre-match warmup.

He would later feature for Jose Mourinho on the left-wing instead of as a striker but he was forced to compete with the talented Frenchman for that one spot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since come in and got the best out of Rashford in terms of career-high numbers and he’s done it without having to sacrifice Martial either.

According to the Mirror, Rashford said: “For me it was an unbelievable experience (to talk to Sir Alex about Rashford’s projects and career) and I think, for me, that is probably the only regret I have ever had in my career – never having the chance to play under Sir Alex.

“It is something which will probably never going to happen now but to be on the phone to him and just have 10 or 15 minutes conversation with him was amazing and I am pleased he was aware of the situation and he wanted to help as well, so it was brilliant.”

Sir Alex Ferguson’s status became so legendary that his pull was arguably just as great as Manchester United’s was in terms of drawing in new signings.

Rashford was about two years too late for the sensational Scotsman but he does have a chance to create some brilliant history in the post-Ferguson era.

The academy graduate has enjoyed a productive season so far despite being thrown about in different positions and the hope is he can continue to impress.
