Marcus Harness has taken to Twitter to praise Ipswich Town’s fans for the support that they illustrated during the club’s clash with Burton Albion.

The winger scored what turned out to be the winning goal for the Blues in the second-half of yesterday’s clash with the Brewers.

Ipswich went close to taking the lead in the 12th minute of this clash as Freddie Ladapo fired an effort just wide of the target.

Christian Walton was then called into action as he made a smart save from Gassan Ahadme.

Following the break, Walton produced another stop to deny Ahadme before Harness opened the scoring for Ipswich at the Pirelli Stadium by slotting home from the edge of the area.

Although Burton did push for an equaliser in the closing stages of this fixture, the Blues demonstrated some resilience to secure all three points on their travels.

Having extended their unbeaten start to the current campaign in League One to four games in last night’s fixture, Ipswich will unquestionably fancy their chances of picking up a positive result in their showdown with Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

Following his side’s latest triumph, Harness opted to take to Twitter to share a message with Ipswich’s supporters.

The winger posted: “Can’t keep the ball but I’ll stick it in the onion bag.

“Amazing noise from the travelling support again!

“Get home safely everyone.”

The Verdict

Ipswich’s decision to splash the cash on Harness earlier this summer may end up being a masterstroke if he continues to deliver the goods in League One.

The winger has now scored three goals in his first four league appearances for the club and illustrated last night that he is capable of delivering the goods at a key stage in a game.

By maintaining his consistency over the course of the coming months, the former Portsmouth man could potentially help Ipswich launch a sustained push for automatic promotion.

Currently brimming with confidence, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Harness adds to this aforementioned goal tally at the Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend.
