Flamengo is monitoring players for the January window and they are expected to go after Oscar again.
Oscar had reached an agreement with Flamengo but the club were not able to hash out a deal with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Port.
In an interview with Pilhado, the vice president of football at Flamengo, Marcos Braz, commented on the possibility of making a new move for Oscar.
“He is a natural name, but we, in December or January, would face the same problem that we face now,” Braz said.
“He has a contract that he renewed a year ago with a great extension. He is a player who has had no problem adapting in China, he has been there since 2017, and then I don’t know if the club would release him.
“It would be a natural name to bring because he is a player who still has a lot to give, who has had a very good time at each of his clubs.
“Even though he went to China at 24, in my mind, he made a decision that was much more financial than sporting.”
Oscar has been an attacking machine since moving to China, contributing 51 goals and 94 assists in 173 career games with the club.
