Flamengo are determined to build their own stadium to the point where they are already preparing surveys and documentation to submit to Caixa.
In view of the real possibility of breaking ground, Flamengo vice president of football Marcos Braz stated that the potential new arena will have more than 100,000 seats.
“With absolute certainty, the stadium will be for more than 100,000 people. I trust (that Flamengo can get it done. I trust Rodolfo Landim’s determination.
“Whether it will be possible or not, whether there will be time or not, Flamengo will build a stadium for more than 100,000 people. You can count on it.
“Building a stadium with more than 100,000 seats is no joke. You need time for this project because it requires a number of things.
“President Landim is on top of this and I hope it works out. I really believe in his strength, in the strength of Flamengo, and also the Flamengo fans.”
Flamengo are back in action on Wednesday as they host São Paulo in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-finals. The Rubro-Negro head into the match leading 3-1.
