It’s known that Dani Olmo’s RB Leipzig contract is expiring and speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Hertha Berlin, Marco Rose stated that plans to do everything possible to convince the Spaniard to remain at the Bundesliga club beyond 2024.

“He knows my opinion of him, we support him in everything,” said Rose. “He knows that he has at the club, that he has developed well here and made a good decision to come to Leipzig. We would like to continue using his qualities, and to continue to advance his development.

“It’s also clear that Dani wants to take the next step in his career at some point but as a coach, I’ll do everything I can to make it clear to the club how important the player is to us, and of course convince Dani that a year in Leipzig will certainly do him good.”

Olmo missed a large chunk of the season through injury but has since returned to the squad. The 24-year-old has 10 goal contributions (4 goals, 6 assists) in 20 games across all competitions for RB Leipzig this season and is an important player in Rose’s side.

With a contract until 2024, RB Leipzig want a decision on Olmo’s future, otherwise they risk losing the player on a free transfer when his contract expires. Discussions are already ongoing between both parties and if an agreement can’t be reached, there’s a possibility that the Spaniard could be sold in the summer.

Since joining RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb for €29m in January 2020, Olmo has played 114 games across all competitions, scoring 20 and creating 24.
