On Tuesday, it was revealed that Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus won the prestigious VDV (Germany’s professional footballers’ association) Player of the Season award.

The award, which is voted on by all the Bundesliga players, was given to Reus after he collected a whopping 31.4 per cent of all votes.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jović, who signed for Real Madrid in a €65m deal on Tuesday, came in second, collecting 20.9 per cent of the vote.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz finished third (12.4 per cent).

Reus won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award on three occasions and scored 17 goals to go along with his 11 assists despite making just 27 Bundesliga appearances.

The VDV also revealed their Team of the Season, which included both Axel Witsel and Jadon Sancho.

While Witsel was the one pulling all the strings in the Dortmund midfield, Sancho was chalking up ridiculous stats, finishing with an incredible 12 goals and 17 assists.
