Marco Reus: Dortmund need to show title-winning 'characteristics' | OneFootball

Marco Reus has called on Borussia Dortmund to replicate the terrific form that saw them end last season on a high.

It looked for some time that 2020/21 would be a blowout for BVB, only for a late resurgence that helped them claim both the DFB Pokal and a Champions League spot.

And Reus warned that his team-mates must avoid such peaks and troughs if they are to be genuine contenders for league and European honours this term.

“Consistency. That has always been a key word for us in recent years,” the club captain told a press conference on Monday.

“There were spells when we were very good, then we had spells when we weren’t stable. That’s what we need to do better this season and pick up points even if we play poorly.

“That’s what characterises the teams that end up winning titles and are one step further ahead in the way they go about a game.

“We need to be more consistent and at a level like we saw at the end of last season.”

Reus was a member of the Dortmund team that reached the Champions League final in 2013, but he has yet to win that competition or the Bundesliga title in his nine years with Die Schwarzgelben.
