Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo named the best 10 Italian football managers from the last decade, with Carlo Ancelotti on top and Simone Inzaghi in seventh place.

Italian football coaches have been in high demand over the last few decades. In the current day and age, they aren’t only plying their trade in the peninsula, but some of them have been taking Europe by storm.

For instance, Carlo Ancelotti is arguably the most decorated manager of his generation. The current Real Madrid coach has already won the Champions League on four occasions and will be gunning for a fifth in a few weeks time when his side takes on Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley.

The 64-year-old is the only manager in history to win domestic league titles in all Top Five European leagues.

Therefore, Parolo considers Ancelotti the best Italian football manager over the past decade.

“Ancelotti is the undisputed number one,” said the former Lazio midfielder in his interview with FcInter1908.

“Then I put Gian Piero Gasperini for his ability to recreate himself. Other coaches have struggled to maintain a winning cycle.

“Then Antonio Conte for the earlier results, but after his Tottenham spell, he must start again strong.

“Luciano Spalletti is in fourth place as we’ve seen his value in Napoli’s Serie A triumph last season. Max Allegri is in fifth place for what he achieved at Juventus. He is a winning coach.

“Afterwards, Maurizio Sarri is sixth. He has obtained good results, also took Lazio to the Champions League.”

Despite Inzaghi’s Scudetto-winning campaign at Inter, Parolo kept his former Lazio boss in seventh place.

“Inzaghi is seventh. He is the only one who didn’t get sacked. At Lazio, he has made a clear progress. Spending five years with the Biancocelesti isn’t easy. At Inter, he won the Scudetto in his third year.

“I put Pioli in eighth, the scudetto was ok but he never had continuity. Mancini is ninth because Euro 2020 glory balances out the World Cup disappointment. Finally, I place Ranieri in 10th place.”
