Legendary Inter defender and World Cup winner Marco Materazzi weighed in on Roma’s decision to dismiss Daniele De Rossi.

In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com, Materazzi said, “He conceded the equalizer against Genoa in the 95th minute and was sent away even though he had another three years on his contract.”

Materazzi continued, “Certain choices just don’t make any sense at all.”

“By coaching Roma he fulfilled his dream, it’s a shame he wasn’t able to continue it to the end,” added Materazzi, who is close friends with De Rossi as the two played together for Italy, lifting the World Cup in 2006.

“But he certainly has a clear conscience: he is so intelligent as a person that his image of himself will not be affected by this sacking.”
