Bittencourt to undergo further scans, Jung given all-clear

Three different Werder players needed treatment during the 1-0 home win over 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Friday night. Goalscorer Leonardo Bittencourt’s game came to an end after just 36 minutes, while Anthony Jung was forced off with four minutes left to play. Marco Friedl continued playing after his injury until he was sent off in injury time (90’+4).

The Green-Whites now know they will be without their captain after he has served his suspension too. Friedl has strained the MCL in his knee and will be out for the next few weeks. Bittencourt’s thigh injury will be fully diagnosed on Monday. Jung was given the all-clear after going off with a thigh issue and he could feature on Friday night in Munich (7/2/25).
