Lazio manager Marco Baroni was certainly in a good moment as he watched his team dismantle Monza by five goals to one on Sunday afternoon.
The Biancocelesti were in enthralling form at the Stadio Olimpico, as Taty Castellanos led the team towards victory with two assists and a goal, while Pedro bagged a brace after coming off the pitch for Boulaye Dia towards the end of the first half. Following a challenge from Armando Izzo, the Senegalese suffered an ankle issue, and not for the first time this season.
While the 28-year-old is expected to undergo tests in the coming hours to detect the extent of the knock, Baroni offered some reassuring updates on the Dia while chatting with journalists in his post-match press conference (via LazioNews24).
Dia had a sprained ankle, so it’s not a very serious injury, but we took him off as a precaution. Fortunately, the ankle didn’t swell up.
On a separate note, the Lazio head coach was particularly vivid on Sunday, and even sprinted to join the celebrations for the second goal. Nevertheless, he promised he’d do a full lap at the Olimpico when Nicolo Rovella finally finds the back of the net.
What did I tell Rovella? Well, he provided the assist [for the fifth goal scored by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru]. I told him that when he scores I’ll do a lap around the pitch. He’s growing a lot, becoming an all-rounder player just like I wanted. He’s even improving during the course of the week.
Although he has yet to score in his 59 appearances since joining Lazio, the 23-year-old has cemented himself as one of the best deep-lying playmakers in Serie A this season, and has even been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool. However, the Italian has often reiterated his desire to stay at Lazio, potentially for life.
