Real Madrid are back on top of LaLiga after a Marco Asensio hat-trick helped them to a comfortable victory over Real Mallorca on Wednesday.
Scorers: Benzema 3′, 78′, Asensio 24′, 29′, 55′, Isco 84′; Lee Kang-in 25′
It took the hosts no time at all to open the scoring, with Karim Benzema pouncing on an error from Mallorca defender Josep Gayá before racing through to score.
Asensio then made it 2-0 when he tapped in from close range, before Lee Kang-in pulled one back for the visitors when he curled past Thibaut Courtois after the Madrid defence had been caught napping.
A few minutes later, Asensio re-established Los Blancos’ two-goal advantage when he was played in by Benzema before firing past the goalkeeper.
Into the second half and Asensio gave his side a commanding lead by completing his hat-trick with an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.
Benzema then grabbed his second of the game and his 200th LaLiga goal to make it 5-1 when he ran in behind the Mallorca defence before sending a deflected effort looping past the goalkeeper.
And it was Isco who popped up to score a sixth goal to complete the rout.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are one of only three teams who are yet to lose a LaLiga match this season and they welcome Villarreal to the Spanish capital on Saturday.
