Marcelo has told Isco he must fight harder to win his place back at Real Madrid.

Isco wasn’t even in the 18-man squad when Madrid took on Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday and is yet to start a game under Santiago Solari.

And amid reports that the Spain international was banished to the stands after he was disrespectful towards the Los Blancos boss at the weekend, Marcelo has sent a clear and pointed message to his team-mate.

“Every player wants to play, but you have to work hard,” Marcelo said.

“I’m not anyone to give advice, we’re old enough, parents, and we all know what we have to do.

“It’s happened to all players. You have to work. I am not saying Isco doesn’t, but this is football. Look at where you are falling short and improve.”

Catalan outlet Sport reported on Wednesday that Isco has lost the support of the Madrid players and the board and will be sold in the summer.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Juventus and Napoli are all said to be interested in the 26-year-old’s services.
