Marcelo is set to snub interest from Juventus in favour of staying at Real Madrid this summer.

The Brazilian reportedly grew disillusioned at the Bernabéu when he found himself benched under Santiago Solari and was open to the idea of following his good friend Cristiano Ronaldo to Turin.

Last month, Cope Radio reported that the 30-year-old had told Madrid General Manager José Ángel Sánchez that he would leave in the summer if he no longer felt wanted at the club, while he also hinted to outlets in his homeland that he was gearing up to leave at the end of the season.

However, AS report on Saturday that Marcelo has now had a change of heart following the return of Zinedine Zidane and now wants to retire in the Spanish capital.

Marcelo started alongside fellow outcasts Isco, Keylor Navas and Marco Asensio in Zidane’s first game back at Los Blancos (the 2-0 win over Celta Vigo before the international break) and is likely start again against Huesca on Sunday evening.

AS say Zidane has told Marcelo that he wants him to be part of his new Madrid project and the coach is determined to get the left-back back to the level that has made him one of the club’s key figures over the last 10 years.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to do what I love with joy,” said Marcelo after the Celta game, and it looks like there will be plenty more where that came from between now and when his contract expires in 2022.
