Last week, Chivas sporting director Ricardo Peláez confirmed that Marcelo Michel Leaño will manage Chivas until the end of the season and will potentially be part of the team’s long-term project.
On Monday night, in an interview with Marca Claro, Leaño publicly reacted to the vote of confidence.
“The gesture that Ricardo Peláez made for me and our project is a great joy and a pleasure. It is something that we had been talking about for weeks inside the institution.
“We are working on a project, a process, a culture change, changing the foundations of many things, which will allow us to deserve to win and win consistently.
“It is also a great commitment that we have to the club. It’s a great responsibility and we have to do everything to be competing this season, to reach the Liguilla, and to be able to fight for the title.
“It is a privilege to be able work for Guadalajara. Part of my contribution to the team is enthusiasm and joy. Everyday it’s demanding, full of responsibility, a lot of competition, fiery training sessions, matches… It’s all natural to me.
“What gives me the most joy is the good times that the team have. If we maintain that level of play that we’re capable of, the results will accompany us.”
On Saturday, Chivas will play the first of their final six games in a 20-day span when they travel to Toluca.
