Marcelo Bielsa is a unique human being.
From going for walks around his local village in full club shop gear to shopping in Morrisons, Bielsa isnât like your usual football manager.
Leeds United fans adore the Argentinian as he looks set to end their long absence from the Premier League with the club currently top of the Championship.
They may have more reason to enjoy Bielsa if he stories from the latest book on the man is anything to go by.
In his book âThe Quality of Madness: A Life of Marcelo Bielsaâ, Tim Rich details some of the somewhat quirkier stories about the 64-year old.
Reported in the Daily Star: âBielsa moved into a one-bedroom flat above a sweet shop in Wetherby.
âThere was a nearby Costa Coffee and he would spend hours there for meetings.
âHe even wore his grey tracksuit to the black-tie gala that celebrated the centenary of Leeds United in October 2019.â
However, there was one story from his time managing Newellâs Old Boys in Argentina that caught the eye.
âAfter his Newellâs side lost 6-0 to San Lorenzo in the Copa Libertadores, ultras surrounded his house.
âBielsa came out of his residence brandishing a hand grenade.
âIf you donât go now, I will pull the pin, he said.â
What a character.
