Marcelo Bielsa admitted that Leeds defeat to Wigan on Friday was a ‘serious wound in the worst moment’.
Wigan had a man sent off inside the opening 10 minutes but still managed to come from behind to beat the Elland Road side 2-1.
That result left Leeds in third place in the Championship, and Bielsa conceded afterwards that the defeat was crushing for their automatic promotion chances.
“This is a very serious wound in the worst moment. And the only relief we can have is to get promoted,” he told reporters.
“What we’ve done so far is not enough. Good but not enough. We need to have more strength in a moment of mental weakness that was not expected.
“This is a challenge for all of us. Especially me because I’m the head coach and three hours ago I have been described as the maker of this reality and therefore this new reality that is different from the reality before the game is also my responsibility.”
Next up for Leeds is Brentford on Easter Monday.
