The Whites had multiple chances throughout the match to open the scoring, but hosts Everton also had moments of their own to go ahead in the 0-1 victory.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, Bielsa was pleased to come away from Goodison Park with all three points.

He said: “It was a very entertaining game, the result, I think was a fair one.

“The performance of our team was a satisfactory one.

“It was very difficult to defend against their strikers, they are very good.

“If we hadn’t had such a balanced, constant effort throughout, it would have been more difficult.”

Last time out, Bielsa’s side had multiple chances but couldn’t break through against Arsenal.

When asked if he thought it would be a repeat of last Sunday’s game, the head coach gave his thoughts.

“To be honest I was thinking about this game and how we could go on to win it,” Marcelo explained.

“But it is right, it did have that in common with the Arsenal game that we missed many chances.

“The difference here is that Everton also had some chances to score.”

The match winner was Brazilian winger, Raphinha, making his second start for the club.

The 23-year-old fired home from outside the area and was quick to receive praise from his boss and teammates.

Bielsa commented: “He’s adapted very quickly to the Premier League.

“Victor Orta anticipated that he had the characteristics to play in this league, so he was correct in choosing him.

“He of course is a player who worries the opposing defence.”
