Isaac Cuenca and Bojan Krkic have been loaned to Ajax from Barcelona in the past, while Jasper Cillessen and Frenkie de Jong were recently sold to the club.

According to Ajax director of football Marc Overmars, Barcelona is now interested in a collaboration with the Dutch giants.

“We know that we are on good terms with Barcelona,” acknowledges Overmars, himself a former player of Barça.

“Barcelona wants to talk to us to see if they can loan players. But there is always just one thing to do.

“We are, of course, not going to get too many players from Barcelona. We are not a subdivision of that club.”

Overmars went on to say that it would not necessarily mean that just players with little-to-no first-team experience would make the switch to Ajax.

Slightly older players or players that just broke into the Barcelona first-team could also see themselves in the Netherlands for a short stint.

“But the plans have not been developed that far,” Overmars added.
