Manchester United’s defensive target, Marc Guehi, reportedly wants to leave Crystal Palace this summer.

United have had a nightmarish season in defence, conceding 84 goals and with an FA Cup final against Manchester City yet to come, there is a chance more pain is to follow.

There has been a revolving door of centre backs as nobody has been able to stay fit consistently and this has led to numerous different partnerships throughout the season.

However, United’s problems have also been down to poor form and strange tactical choices by the manager, Erik ten Hag.

As a result, Raphael Varane will already say goodbye to the club after the cup final tomorrow and the likes of Jonny Evans and perhaps Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof may also leave the club.

Numerous names have been linked to a summer switch to Old Trafford such as Jarrad Branthwaite, Jean-Clair Todibo or Tosin Adarabioyo.

Palace’s Guehi is another name that has featured heavily when it comes to United and it was reported yesterday that the defender’s price has been set at £60 million.

It has also been suggested that the Eagles would be more prepared to sell the centre back than fellow United target Michael Olise.

Sports Zone (via getfootballnewsfrance.com) have added an extra layer to an already interesting story reporting that, “Marc Guéhi (23) wants to leave Crystal Palace this summer, with Premier League clubs keenly monitoring his situation.”

“Guéhi’s time at the South London side looks to be nearing its end with Manchester United thought to be keen on strengthening a defence that has looked patchwork this season. Liverpool and his former club Chelsea are also thought to assessing a move for Guéhi but as of the moment they have other targets in mind.”

In further good news for the Red Devils it is said that “Guéhi has no current interest in a move abroad and sees his future firmly within the Premier League.”

The defender has described himself as “strong and comfortable on the ball”, two characteristics the United defence is certainly crying out for.

Guehi was restricted to only 29 appearances last season to injury and this is something he will want to improve on if he is to secure a move to a bigger club this summer or in the near future.
