On this day in 1973, Manuel Sol was born, a player who was part of the historic 2006 Apertura championship team with Guadalajara. For eight years, he defended the Rojiblanca jersey with dedication and passion, which made him a beloved figure among Chivahermanos fans. That's why, on his special day, we celebrate by remembering his career as a professional.

Born in Mexico City, 'Manolo' confessed that he dreamed of being a soccer player since he was a child, even though his parents did not entirely agree. That desire led him to find a way to devote himself to the sport he enjoyed most.

He trained in the Pumas youth academy, making his debut with the first team at the age of 16. At 19, he joined Necaxa, where he was twice champion in the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons. He later played for Atlante, Puebla, and Monterrey, as well as representing Mexico at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

In the winter of 2001, he joined Chivas and from the very first training session he recognized the greatness of the club, commenting in an interview: "From day one, I realized what Chivas meant, because more people came to watch me train with Guadalajara than to the games I played before."

At the Rebaño Sagrado, he played as a midfielder, establishing himself thanks to his exceptional right foot and the dedication he showed in every challenge for the ball. As a Rojiblanco, he shared a dressing room with stars such as Ramón Morales, Héctor Reynoso, Omar Bravo, and Oswaldo Sánchez.

His last goal with Chivas was against Atlante, in a match in which Guadalajara came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game. In the 78th minute, Manuel appeared, following an assist from Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista, and finished with a lob shot that gave the Rojiblancos the victory.

In 2007, his career as a soccer player came to an end, retiring in Guadalajara and remaining etched in the memory of the Rojiblanco fans.

Happy birthday, Manolo!
