It seems Bayern Munich could be without goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for a little while.

The German number one missed the team’s 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday after injuring his hand in training.

When quizzed on the injury by Sky Sports before the game, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzić gave little away.

“We hope it doesn’t last too long,” he answered.

“We’ll take it day by day and decide from game to game.”

However, the 42-year-old would not reveal more about the issue.

On Sunday, Bild report that Neuer was involved in training the day after the defeat … but not as a goalkeeper.

Wearing no gloves and a plastic splint on his right hand, the Bayern captain joined in with his team-mates usual routines until it was time for a match, which he watched from the sidelines.

Sven Ulreich may be needed in goal for a little while longer.
