Manuel Neuer has admitted it pains him to see Schalke struggling.
The Germany goalkeeper began his professional career with the Königsblauen, who are on a run of 25 league games without a win.
“Schalke is the club where I grew up,” Neuer told T-Online.
“I played there for 20 years, and I’m sad to experience the developments there
“I hope things start moving in the right direction again soon.”
Neuer’s Bayern Munich beat Schalke 8-0 on the opening day of the Bundesliga season.
