Manuel Neuer voiced his support for Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick after Saturday’s disappointing draw with Union Berlin.

It was the second disappointing result in a matter of days for the Bavarians following their 3-2 loss at home to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the sides’ Champions League quarter-final.

Jamal Musiala gave Bayern the lead against Union with just over 20 minutes remaining at the Allianz Arena, but substitute Marcus Ingvartsen earned a point for the visitors five minutes from time.

Despite the setback, Flick’s charges are still five points clear of nearest challengers RB Leipzig at the top of the Bundesliga table.

But it threw further doubt over the 56-year-old’s future at the club that has been subject to speculation in the wake of a recent falling out with sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić.

Neuer, however, rubbished any suggestions that Flick’s position should be in danger.

“Hansi Flick is the right trainer for us, you have seen how successful we have been in recent times,” the Bayern goalkeeper told Sky Sport.

“We look forward to it continuing like this,” Neuer added.

The Germany international admitted that the players were aware of the situation between Flick and Salihamidžić, but downplayed its significance.

“It’s not as big as you can imagine. Nevertheless, all things that are beating down on us from the outside are not necessary.”

Bayern will need to be fully focused on the task at hand if they are to rescue their Champions League hopes in Paris on Tuesday.
