That's according to Sacha Tavolieri, who has said that Leeds United, Norwich City and Sunderland are all interested in the services of the 27-year-old.

Leeds are currently in pole position, with talks of a permanent move away from Turf Moor currently taking place. The Whites came close to signing the Angolan international last season, but a move failed to materialise.

Benson has not featured in either of Burnley's opening two Championship games, despite his success in the division two years ago, with the fallout from a poor Premier League campaign potentially on the mind of new manager Scott Parker.

Benson is a proven Championship winger

Although he struggled to settle in the Premier League, and was given a lot less game-time than he anticipated, Benson was excellent in Burnley's second tier title win in 2022/23.

In 33 league games, he scored 11 goals and picked up three assists, while also bagging a brace in his sole FA Cup appearance against AFC Bournemouth.

The winger was extremely clinical in the Championship under Kompany, firing in his goals from just a 4.06xG rate.

His creativity is what picks Benson apart from other wingers in the division, and he is just now entering his peak as a player at the age of 27. He created 36 chances off the right-wing for the Clarets in 2022/23, and was extremely unlucky to not come out of the season with more assists.

If a club can get Benson playing consistently, then it is highly likely that he will reproduce the same form as he has done in the past, but fitness issues could be a stumbling block that need to be worked around.

Leeds, Norwich and Sunderland will fight to replace stars

Leeds have had a torrid summer so far, having lost many key players, such as Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville, Glen Kamara and now Georginio Rutter to Brighton & Hove Albion.

But, this has allowed them to recoup high fees that they must spend to re-strengthen before the August 30 deadline.

Norwichas per John Percy, and replacing him with Benson could be the way forward at Carrow Road.

Leeds had previously been seeking a deal for Rowe, but look to have failed in their conquest, while they have also been linked with Sunderland's Jack Clarke.

The Black Cats' interest in Benson may be upped if Clarke does head back to Elland Road before next Friday, while top flight club Southampton are also monitoring the 23-year-old's situation.

If Clarke does leave Sunderland, then a move for Benson could be the best one to replace him, and if it is Leeds who capture the young English winger, then they may stall their own potential deal for Burnley's Angolan international.
