Manchester United’s fears eased as Lisandro Martínez doesn’t need surgery | OneFootball

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez has sustained collateral ligament damage in his right knee and according to Gastón Edul, the Argentine defender doesn’t need surgery.

Martínez was forced off against West Ham United at the weekend but it appears that the worst case scenario – an anterior cruciate ligament tear – has been ruled out. This news will have certainly eased the fears of Manchester United, who hope to have the central-defender back by mid-March, after the international break.

That means that Martínez will miss around seven games for Manchester United, possibly eight, should they make the FA Cup quarter-finals.

A season to forget for Lisandro Martínez

It hasn’t been the greatest of season’s for Martínez. The Argentine missed 22 games across all competitions for Manchester United with a foot injury, and now his latest injury will keep him sidelined for around between a month and a half and two months.

Martínez has played just 740 minutes of football across 10 games for Erik ten Hag this season.
