Manchester United appear to want a midfielder before the summer transfer window closes in a few days. The Red Devils have been linked to Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte this summer and other alternatives to bolster the position.

The Premier League side have been tracking Ugarte for several weeks, but ESPN’s Rob Dawson reports that the club are unwilling to overspend on the 23-year-old midfielder.

As a result, the English club are keen on alternatives such as Sander Berge, but there’s bad news on this front. Mail Sport reports that Manchester United have put in a bid for Berge, but it falls short of Burnley’s £30 million asking price.

Meanwhile, PSG are expected to lower their demands for Ugarte, who remains a top target. Moreover, Manchester United could be receiving funds before the summer window closes.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Scott McTominay has agreed on personal terms with Napoli. However, the Italian club struggle to meet Manchester United’s €30 million asking price unless they manage to sell Victor Osimhen first.

Nonetheless, these final days of the summer window should be interesting to follow. Could Manchester United and PSG find common ground on Ugarte or do they finally land an alternative target?
