Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus as a new week begins.

United lost their Premier League opener against Brighton on Sunday with Fred and Scott McTominay lining up in midfield. A summer-long pursuit of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong has been unsuccessful thus far and Rabiot could arrive as an alternative.

According to The Athletic, the Premier League giants are now working on a deal for the Frenchman, who has just one year remaining on his Juventus contract.

The report repeats claims that United agreed a €85m fee with Barcelona to sign De Jong back in July but a move continues to stall with Barcelona owing the Dutchman deferred wages.

Rabiot featured as Juve lost 4-0 to Atlético Madrid in their final pre-season outing on Sunday.

Reports in Italy last month suggested the club were keen to keep the midfielder after Paul Pogba picked up a knee injury.
