Manchester United star Lucia Garcia is reportedly set to leave the club and join Mexican side Monterrey this summer.

In a devastating blow to United, it seems like Garcia’s time at Old Trafford has come to an end and she will depart when her contract expires.

She has been at United for two years.

Back in March, head coach Marc Skinner revealed that discussions between the club and Garcia were ongoing over a new deal but it seems like those efforts were unproductive.

According to journalist Diego Armando Medina, Monterrey are not satisfied following their title win and have already secured the “bomb” of the summer – Garcia.

The 25-year-old is poised to be the Liga MX Femenil outfit’s latest marquee signing.

Her acquisition is being considered a major swoop as she’s still very much in her prime.

BBC adds that Garcia was eager to stay at United but after a highly lucrative financial package was made by Monterrey, she simply couldn’t turn it down.

The newspaper explains that the paperwork is being finalised for Garcia to join Las Rayadas.

Meanwhile, United have identified potential replacements for Garcia such as Brighton’s Elisabeth Terland, who is also out of contract this summer.

However, the Reds’ approach for Terland is still in the early stages and she has a number of options on the table.

Garcia was part of the United side that beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 earlier this month to claim the FA Cup – the first major trophy for the women’s team.

In fact, Garcia scored twice as her side put Spurs to the sword at Wembley.
