Manchester United have been successful in their appeal of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s two-match ban for the red card he received in the 2-1 loss to Young Boys last month.

The right-back was sent off in the first half of the game due to a poor challenge but his misery was compounded two weeks later when UEFA announced that he had been given a two-match ban.

Just hours later, a similar challenge in another Champions League game went unpunished, something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have been frustrated with.

According to BBC journalist Simon Stone, as seen above, UEFA have reduced Wan-Bissaka’s ban to one game, meaning he will be available for the crucial group game against Atalanta on Wednesday next week.

Wan-Bissaka’s absence from the side against Villarreal was telling, with Diogo Dalot enduring a difficult night against Arnaut Danjuma at Old Trafford. Solskjaer will welcome the decision to reduce Wan-Bissaka’s ban and ultimately, he will feel it was the right decision.
