Manchester United picked up a brilliant 4-0 win over Everton at the weekend and Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, speaking to Hayters on behalf of NetBet Sports Betting, believes they will feel confident about beating Arsenal.
Parlour said: “It’s a different Manchester United side now, you could call them, because of the new manager coming in. It was a great result yesterday for United, so it should be an interesting game. It’s always been a cracking game anyway. It doesn’t matter what form the clubs are in either way, but it gives it that little bit extra now because I think Man United now go into the game a lot more confident and believe they can maybe get a result at the Emirates.”
United were in awful form at the end of Erik ten Hag’s reign, but since he left the club they are now unbeaten in their last seven games.
United are actually in better form over their last seven games than Arsenal, and the meeting on Wednesday comes at a time when both sides are really hitting their stride.
On whether he thinks United will go all out for the win, Parlour said: “Oh yeah, I think they will. You know, to score four goals yesterday, it’s a big win. It’s a big lift. Sometimes you get a lift when a new manager comes in. Everybody’s got that lease of life again. Whether ten Hag fell out of a few people, I don’t know. But it seems like now he’s (Amorim) got everyone together. He’s spoken well. It’s a big club to manage, but he seems to have started well.”
The game will be a huge test for Arsenal, to see how realistic their title ambitions are. They are currently nine points behind Liverpool and if the gap gets much bigger, it will be almost impossible to overcome.
