Manchester United host Real Sociedad tonight with a place in the Europa League’s quarter-finals at stake.
The tie is perfectly poised after a 1-1 draw in San Sebastien a week ago, where Mikel Oyarzabal’s penalty cancelled out Joshua Zirkzee’s opener for the Red Devils.
Ruben Amorim’s side are aiming to extend their five-game unbeaten run and will face either FCSB or Lyon in the last eight, if progress is secured tonight.
Real Sociedad are without a win in four across all competitions and have dropped to 11th in the La Liga table.
Manuel Ugarte is set to return to the squad in a welcome boost for Manchester United. The Uruguayan has missed the last two games with an unspecified injury.
Leny Yoro will miss out after being withdrawn against Arsenal at the weekend with a foot problem. The Frenchman’s absence leaves the Red Devils short defensively, with Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Lisndro Martinez all unavailable tonight. He was replaced by teenager Ayden Heaven at the weekend.
Mason Mount has returned to training this week as he makes his latest recovery. However, tonight’s tie will come too soon for the former Chelsea midfielder.
Manchester United preedicted XI: Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Lindelof, Mazraoui, Dorgu; Fernandes, Ugarte; Garnacho, Hojlund, Zirkzee.
Manchester United host Real Sociedad in the Europa League’s last 16 on Thursday 13th March 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 20:00 GMT.
Manchester United vs Real Sociedad will be televised on TNT Sports 1, TNT Sports Ultimate and Discovery+ UK.
