Paris Saint-Germain will make the trip to Old Trafford for Wednesday’s much-anticipated Champions League group stage clash against Manchester United.

Les Parisiens are currently second in Group H with six points, three behind Manchester United, who also have the head-to-head advantage over them after their 2-1 win at Parc des Princes.

Hence, it is a potentially must-win game for Thomas Tuchel’s side or they will no longer have their destiny in their own hands with one game left in the group. Leipzig are tied with them on six points and are only behind on the head-to-head away goals.

Three Players to watch out for:

Edinson Cavani – Manchester United:

Cavani could not face his former employers in Matchday 1 as he was serving a 14-day quarantine period after joining the Red Devils on a free transfer. The 33-year-old has managed only 254 minutes of first-team action, but he will go into tomorrow’s game in top form after his stunning second-half display at Southampton.

The Uruguay international came off the bench at half-time when United were trailing 2-0 at St Mary’s side and changed the tide of the game with one assist and two goals including a stoppage-time header to seal a superb comeback win. Cavani, who spent seven years at Les Parisiens and became their record goalscorer (200), should be fully motivated to beat them.

Neymar – Paris Saint-Germain:

Neymar returned from an adductor injury after the international break and he has since scored in back-to-back starts against RB Leipzig and Bordeaux in the Champions League and Ligue 1 respectively. However, both of those goals came from the penalty spot.

There are no doubts over the quality possessed by the Brazil international, but he has quite often disappointed when the expectation is on him to make the difference. He has not scored from open play in six European matches, where he has squandered some golden chances. He will be hoping to put things right at Old Trafford.

Kylian Mbappe – Paris Saint-Germain:

Neymar’s strike partner Kylian Mbappe has been equally frustrating in the Champions League and he has not found the back of the net in Europe since December 2019. That constitutes a run of eight matches where he has been more of a creator with four assists.

United have beaten Paris Saint-Germain in the previous two meetings in the Champions League and Mbappe has been poor on both occasions, where he has not managed a single shot on target. It remains to be seen whether he can test the Red Devils goalkeeper in midweek and end his year-long European goal drought.
