Manchester United continue their defence of the FA Cup this evening when Leicester City arrive at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s team are aiming to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend. The loss was the club’s seventh on home soil in the Premier League this season.
United will take encouragement from an impressive performance in the previous round of this competition. Despite a red card for Diogo Dalot, United beat Arsenal on penalties in North London. The Red Devils have also already faced Leicester twice at Old Trafford this season, beating the Foxes in the Premier League and League Cup.
Those wins were under the management of interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will face his former team tonight as Leicester’s head coach. It has been a tough start for the Dutchman, whose team are in the Premier League’s bottom three.
Altay Bayindir is expected to return in goal as United’s cup goalkeeper. The Turkey international was the hero of the third-round win at Arsenal with penalty saves in normal time and the shootout success.
Amorim has confirmed that new signing Patrick Dorgu could make his debut. The left-back has arrived from Lecce in a deal worth around £25m. Lisandro Martinez is set for a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ACL injury at the weekend and joins Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans as unavailable.
Manchester United predicted XI: Bayindir; Mazraoui, Yoro, De Ligt, Maguire, Dorgu; Ugarte, Mainoo; Amad, Hojlund, Fernandes.
Manchester United host Leicester in the FA Cup’s fourth round on Friday 7th February 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 20:00 GMT.
Manchester United vs Leicester will be available to watch on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
