Manchester United to keep a close eye on transfer targets at Euros

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United will keep a close eye on the players they are interested in at this summer’s European Championship.

The Red Devils are keen to bring in a number of players this summer. The likes of Raphael Varane, Jules Kounde, Pau Torres, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho among others will all be in action.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attended the latest recruitment meeting last week. There is a feeling that many players are effectively putting their club futures on hold ahead of the Euros. This is especially true as in the case with Youri Tielamans, another player on our radar.

According to the report, Torres also has no plans to discuss his future ahead of the summer tournament. The sources close to the player have revealed that any move will likely take place late in the window.

England manager Gareth Southgate has also admitted that he is not expecting any deals to take place for his players while they are still involved in the tournament.

With the final scheduled for the second week of July, it may prove to be a long summer for the Red Devils.

United’s chief scout Mick Court drafted up a shortlist of targets in January and the director of football negotiations Matt Judge has already held talks with various players’ representatives in recent months.

Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his side and is aiming to bring in a minimum of three first-team signings in the summer.

  1. Manchester United fans react as Edinson Cavani wins Player of the Month for May
  2. Manchester United set to pocket millions if Romelu Lukaku quits Inter Milan this summer
  3. Chelsea could up the ante against Manchester United for Jadon Sancho

While it is good to keep a close eye on players, United will do well not to exaggerate players’ performances in the tournament. The last thing we want to do is go big on players enjoying a good tournament but are otherwise bang average.
