Manchester United have been linked with a move for Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund and they will make a move for the Dane if they fail to secure their first-choice targets this summer.

It was reported yesterday that United would need to pay a fee of €60 million to land Højlund, whose valuation at La Dea has risen over the previous season. It was also reported by La Stampa that the 20-year-old seems destined to join the English giants this summer.

Recently, Gianluca di Marzio spoke to Danish outlet Sportbonuskode about the situation of the striker and he revealed that United have good relations with his new agent and will move for him if they do not end up signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

He said: “Manchester United have scouted him and his agent and have close relations with the management of Manchester United. Højlund is an investment for the future. The signing of Rasmus Højlund depends on whether Manchester United can get hold of Victor Osimhen. If they can’t get Osimhen, Rasmus Højlund could very likely be their investment in the future.”

In a recent interview, Højlund had stated that he wants to upgrade at some point in his career and United definitely present that upgrade. He scored nine goals last season, racking up four assists while playing only 1834 minutes in the Serie A. The Danish talent has been linked with other clubs in recent months as well, but it seems as if United are well in the lead.
