Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the absence of four first-team regulars for the Premier League trip to Leicester City.

The Red Devils were disappointing before the international break. They picked up just one point from the league encounters against Aston Villa and Everton.

Despite the winless run, they remain just two points behind leaders Chelsea and will be keen to return to winning ways at the King Power Stadium tomorrow.

Ahead of the game, Solskjaer has confirmed that he won’t be without his regular central defensive partners in Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane due to injuries.

Maguire suffered a calf problem before the international break. The 28-year-old only joined the full training session today, and the Foxes game may come too soon for him.

He said: “Harry was on the grass this morning, and that was the first day out there.”

Meanwhile, it is known that Varane will be out for a few weeks. Alongside the duo, United may have to contend with the absence of Fred and Cavani after recent international commitments.

The duo were involved in a World Cup qualifier this morning.

With the short turnaround time for their return from South America, Solskjaer has practically ruled out their inclusion.

Solskjaer added: “As we see with Raphael, he’s got an injury, out for a few weeks, but then again Victor and Eric played in the internationals and got good game time, so that was good for us.

“We’ve got to give them the time to rest and recover, which of course you have to. They played well, and that was a good thing for us.

“They’re not injured, so hopefully they can be involved again in midweek, for the Champions League [game versus Atalanta].”

Our view:

United’s main concern will be the setbacks for Maguire and Varane, but they have quality replacements within the squad in Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly to depend on.

The duo’s only involvement together was the West Ham United defeat in the Carabao Cup third round.]

They could have conceded more than once that day and need a much better showing tomorrow.

The Red Devils face a Foxes team that have been defensively vulnerable this term.

However, they are still a potent threat in front of goal, with Jamie Vardy in a fine run of scoring form.

United are winless in the last three meetings against the Foxes, including a FA Cup quarter-final loss.

They will be favourites to end the streak despite the recent injury setbacks in the squad.
