Manchester United to announce Dutch signing on Monday

Manchester United are edging closer to announcing their first arrival of the summer, with less than a week remaining before Erik ten Hag jets off to Thailand for this year’s pre-season tour.

Thus far, only groundwork has been laid on potential incomings but the club will be hoping that several players will walk through the Carrington doors imminently.

Tyrell Malacia, the Feyenoord left-back, was due to join Lyon this summer but United hijacked the deal at the 11th hour, giving Ten Hag another option on the left flank.

Earlier this week, journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 22-year-old would be arriving in Manchester over the weekend and completing his medical on Monday.

Now, it’s being reported that United are set to announce Malacia’s arrival as soon as Monday, with the Dutch international poised to become Ten Hag’s first signing at United.

That’s according to The Telegraph, who say that the club are also in talks with Ajax over the signing of Lisandro Martinez, who also has interest from Arsenal.

SN’s verdict… Malacia’s arrival means that there are now four senior left-backs at the club, which could see one or two leave in order to raise funds for further incomings. Brandon Williams and Alex Telles are both out of favour at the club and their sales would top off United’s budget.

United leave for their summer tour on Friday and in addition to Malacia, Ten Hag will be desperate to add at least two more players to the travelling squad.

Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona midfielder, is another Dutchman heavily linked to the club whilst a decision from Christian Eriksen on his future is expected imminently.
