Manchester United: The Bryan Mbeumo deal on hold

The Bryan Mbeumo saga has hit a standstill. While Manchester United appeared to be closing in on an agreement with Brentford, negotiations have now ground to a halt.

The Red Devils submitted a second offer of £55 million—nearly 715 million Swedish kronor—plus an additional £7.5 million in bonuses. That proposal was rejected by Brentford, who remain firm in their demands: £70 million to release the Cameroonian forward.

According to David Ornstein (The Athletic), Mbeumo is keen to join United this summer if he leaves Brentford. But Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s owner, refuses to overpay for a player entering the final year of his contract. After netting 20 Premier League goals last season, Mbeumo might have to wait—unless a compromise can be reached quickly between the two clubs.
