Ramos cleared the air regarding his exit. He claimed that he initially wanted a two-year deal but the club only offered him one. While he wanted to accept the one-year option later, he found out that it was no longer on the table.

Now that Ramos is set to become a free agent, several clubs have shown interest in signing the World Cup winner. Among them are Manchester United, who want to sign a new defender to partner Harry Maguire. However, despite a free agent Ramos is said to be demanding an eye-watering £10m per year in wages.

This is not the first time United have been after the legendary defender. In 2015, there was serious interest but he ultimately penned a new deal. Nevertheless, those are some serious wage demands and United will be wary of handing out any such deal after what happened with Alexis Sanchez.
