Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is the latest name to emerge on Manchester United’s radar.
United entered the summer transfer window with an aim to hand Ruben Amorim a new striker on the back of a dire campaign from Rasmus Hojlund.
Their preferred targets, including Liam Delap, have shown little desire to join Amorim’s project. However, Jackson’s stance could play into their hands.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have enquired about the Senegal international’s situation at Stamford Bridge.
Signed from Villarreal in 2023, Jackson had been Chelsea’s first-choice striker for the previous two seasons. However, Delap’s arrival has changed that. In the Club World Cup, Enzo Maresca showed more faith in his new signing.
The arrival of Joao Pedro has pushed the Senegalese further down the pecking, raising question marks over his future in London.
According to The Sun, Napoli and AC Milan have held talks over a possible deal for the 24-year-old this summer.
However, Jackson has “already turned down offers” from both Serie A giants due to his preference of “staying in the Premier League.”
The Chelsea man “loves” playing in England and would like to continue in the Premier League if he were to leave his current club. Accordingly his desire has handed United a major “boost” in the chase.
Jackson is a tireless runner, who is very effective in transitions. His work on and off the ball could make him an excellent option for Amorim.
United might find it easier to convince the player but Chelsea’s demands could hamper any possible deal.
Jackson has seven years remaining on his current deal and the Blues are not too keen on pushing him out the door. As such, he is valued at £80 million by the world champions.
An exorbitant price tag considering his 10-goal return in the Premier League last term.
