Corriere dello Sport has delivered a compelling snapshot of Juventus’ summer strategy, highlighting their ambition, financial balancing act and a transfer window filled with both promise and pitfalls. With the arrival of Jonathan David already secured, Juve are now pushing hard to land Jadon Sancho in what could be a transformative double act up front, report Corriere Dello Sport.
There is no doubting the intent coming out of Turin. “After closing Jonathan David, the new general manager Comolli is intensifying contacts with Jadon Sancho,” begins the report, underlining a strategic pivot to add dynamism and creativity to their offensive options. Juventus have identified Sancho as the man to unlock defences, a player once on Cristiano Giuntoli’s radar a year ago.
Back then, Manchester United preferred to loan him to Chelsea “because the Blues, unlike the Bianconeri, did not ask the Red Devils to contribute to the payment of the salary.” Now, the context has shifted slightly. “Juventus wants to buy the player’s registration, yet that knot tied to the very high salary of the player that exceeds 10 million euros net per season remains.”

Sancho’s wages are clearly a stumbling block, but not one Juventus are ready to walk away from just yet.
While Juventus have seemingly come to terms with Manchester United, there is “no understanding with the player.” Two pathways are on the table: “the exchange of registration rights with Douglas Luiz or the purchase for 25 million plus bonuses.” Yet the finer details of salary remain unresolved.
“Sancho would like 8,” the article reports, referring to a net figure in millions, “a figure that the Old Lady does not consider sustainable.” Juventus are countering with “a David-style salary, therefore between 6 and 7 million net.”
The maths is significant here. Comolli’s idea is to redistribute funds by offloading Dusan Vlahovic’s hefty €12 million salary, which could be reallocated to both David and Sancho. “Paying two (motivated) for the price of one (on the margins)” is the internal mantra.
News has also emerged about Vlahovic’s uncertain future. “His agent, Ristic, is arriving in Turin to discuss a possible contractual resolution in exchange for a severance package.” The parallels with Szczesny’s departure are not lost on anyone following the club’s attempts to trim the wage bill.
David’s arrival has strategic implications. It “has certainly also served to send a signal to Vlahovic after his outbursts on social media and his desire to stay until the expiry date.” Clearly, Juve want players who buy into the future, not just collect pay packets.
Meanwhile, “The Kolo Muani issue remains under control,” but PSG’s firm stance could complicate things. “The Parisians would like to cash in on Kolo after having paid 90 million for him in 2023.” Juventus want another loan with an option to buy, but PSG insist on either a permanent sale or a future obligation to buy. Chelsea have now reportedly entered the fray, complicating things further.
Juve’s business will not stop with their attack. Two more moves are planned defensively. A central defender is needed — “Hancko is still in the thoughts of the Bianconeri, Laporte has recently entered” — and so is a left-sided player to allow Cambiaso to return to the right. “At the moment at the top of the list is Piquerez of Palmeiras,” who featured against Chelsea in the Club World Cup quarter-final.
This is a Juventus side being rebuilt with calculation and intent. There is vision behind the project, but the question remains whether the numbers, egos and ambitions can align in time.
As a neutral or even a Premier League fan, it is hard not to be excited by Juventus’ proactive approach this summer. Snapping up Jonathan David and now gunning for Jadon Sancho is a clear statement. “Double J” sounds like the sort of thing you’d read in Football Italia’s golden era headlines. Sancho has been crying out for a revival of form and fortune — this might just be the stage for it.
The salary situation is a real sticking point, and you can understand Juve’s reluctance. “Sancho would like 8” is fair enough for a player of his ability, but not when you are trying to rebalance the squad financially. Credit to Comolli if he can orchestrate this kind of manoeuvre. Getting Vlahovic’s €12 million off the books and paying “two for the price of one” is the kind of financial wizardry clubs dream about pulling off.
What’s even more intriguing is the Kolo Muani subplot. If Juve can keep him, bring in Sancho and start David through the middle, that’s a frightening front three. The fact Chelsea are hovering only adds spice. As always, the Old Lady knows how to stir up summer theatre.
