Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is ready to leave the club in January, according to reports. The 28-year-old has started the season in good form, scoring two goals and assisting another, despite being sparingly used by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

This time last year, Lingard was on the periphery at Manchester United and failed to make a single league appearance before joining West Ham on a six-month loan in the January transfer window.

The move proved to be the best thing that could have happened for Lingard, with the tricky attacking midfielder scoring nine goals and assisting a further four in just 16 Premier League appearances for David Moyes’ side.

This season, he has been used as an impact substitute by Solskjaer and he is now ready to leave the club in January as he seeks regular first-team football.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim that Lingard is looking to rescue his hopes of featuring for England in next year’s World Cup in Qatar. Furthermore, he has grown more frustrated with his role in Solskjaer’s squad.

Lingard has less than one year remaining on his contract at Manchester United and is free to speak with foreign clubs over a pre-agreement in January.
