FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Red Devils this morning.
Irene joins Manchester United from Spanish club Atlético Madrid. She made 23 appearances for the club in the finetwork Liga F last season. The player has also turned out for Real Betis and Levante earlier in her career.
On the international stage, Irene was a member of the Spanish side which won a first-ever world title at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023. She made three appearances at the tournament.
The player is now set for a first taste of club football outside of her native Spain with new side Manchester United.
After joining The Red Devils, Irene said “I feel very happy and very privileged to be here. I am very proud to be part of the Manchester United family and look forward to achieving all our goals together.”
Irene is expected to potentially be one of a handful of arrivals at Manchester United on Transfer Deadline Day. It remains to be seen how many deals the club can get over the line before the transfer window closes this evening.
